The Illinois Concealed Carry Certificate program provides students with the detailed instruction needed to carry, care for, and use a concealed weapon. This program typically takes three days and requires 16 clock hours to complete. The certificate meets the training requirements necessary to apply for the Illinois Conceal and Carry license.
Student Learning Outcomes
The course will instruct students on the types of situations in which it may be appropriate to use a handgun. Pistol and ammunition nomenclature will be a focus of study, too. Students also will learn best practices for handgun safety, cleaning and maintenance. This course will teach the skills associated with properly loading, unloading, and shooting a handgun. These shooting techniques include proper breathing, isometric tension, and sight alignment. Finally, students will synthesize the skills they have learned with dry firing practice and time at the gun range. This course will bring students up to date on local, state and federal concealed carry laws. Upon completion, students will receive a certificate acknowledging that they have satisfied all of the required coursework to receive their Concealed Carry License.
